about shirley foster, esq.

Attorney Shirley Foster earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Willamette University College of Law. Founded in 1883, Willamette is the oldest law school in the Pacific Northwest. Shirley served on Moot Court Board, as Associate Editor of the Willamette Law Review, and also concurrently as Managing Articles Editor for the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution. She honed her legal research, analysis, and writing skills during her Supreme Court of Oregon judicial internship assisting the Honorable Justice William Riggs. Both the University of Texas and U.C.L.A. have published Ms. Foster's scholarly legal articles which include "An American Inquiry Into Contemporary Terrorist Accountability," 6 Texas Review of Law & Politics 513 (2002) and "Prudent Provenance – Looking Your Gift Horse in the Mouth," 8 U.C.L.A. Entertainment Law Review 143 (2001).

Shirley also studied international law abroad in Florence, Italy and at Magdalen College, University of Oxford in England for a semester. She researched English case law and attended legal proceedings at the Royal Courts of Justice during her summer clerkship with a highly respected barristers' chambers, which represented international clientele in Lincoln's Inn, London, England. Shirley also drafted Ninth Circuit appellate briefs and researched and analyzed criminal legal issues during her internship with the United States Department of Justice, United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of California. Prior to law school, Shirley earned her paralegal certificate and was a paralegal to General Counsel in the national headquarters of a publicly traded corporation where she was responsible for procuring and maintaining over 600 corporate licenses in seven states, and worked with consumer finance law and truth-in-lending regulations, as well as reviewed operational policies and procedures affecting multi-state retail sales and finance operations.

Ms. Foster has successfully litigated in Nevada's civil courts for over a decade. She is admitted to practice before all federal and state courts in Nevada. Ms. Foster has achieved strong results for her clients, assisting physicians, hospitals, business owners, land developers and construction clientele to achieve their legal objectives. Ms. Foster has also guided many personal injury clients through arbitration, mediation, and litigation processes. Shirley takes pride in providing each of her clients with dedicated, individual attention and she is never too busy to return a telephone call. Ms. Foster strives to meet or exceed her client's expectations.

Ms. Foster has served her local community as a volunteer ABA Moot Court judge and she sits on the State of Nevada's Foreclosure Mediation Program Advisory Committee. To assist the Advisory Committee in recommending best policies and practices to the Nevada Supreme Court for consideration, Shirley has researched and analyzed multiple other states' foreclosure mediation programs, evolving laws, and pending legislative initiatives, realizing that other states' lawmakers are also addressing legal issues similar to those challenges which Nevadans face.
